HOW TO COMMISSION ME

  • To commission me, you can contact me via my email (ph.haonguyen@gmail.com), or send me direct messages on any of my social media platforms (Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) via my alienturnipp handle.
  •  When you start to describe to me the details of your order, please specify the following information:
    • The type of commission
    • Whether or not you require any extra elements (multiple characters, background, etc.)
    • Whether or not you require a specific canvas size/resolution. Unless specified otherwise, the artwork will be in medium poster size, horizontal or vertical, 300ppi.
    • References:
      • For all commissions that are not Character Design, I will only accept those with clear visual references. This includes photo references, face claims, artworks fof the characters, in-game screenshots, your own sketches, etc. the more the better.
      •  Any additional information on your character(s) & settings are appreciated, including character background, personality, worldbuilding, story excerpts, etc.
      • Similarly, if you haven’t had a clear idea on what your order is going to be, I will be happy to start the brainstorming process with you.
    •  I am willing to work on custom orders that are not specified in the price list above. Feel free to send me a message, and we will work out the details together.
    • After receiving your request, I will send you back several sketches/brainstorming ideas based on your requests, but no payment will be required until we agree on a sketch and a price. For more details, please refer to my Terms of Service.

TERMS OF SERVICE

By sending me a commission request, either via email or direct messages on my social media, you – the Commissioner – have read and agreed to the following terms and conditions of the services provided by me – the Artist.

For Commercial Uses of your commission(s), please contact me to discuss further details & pricing.

1. Workflow, Deadlines & Deliveries:

  • What I will draw:
    • Original characters
    • Fanarts
    • Ships/Pairings of fictional characters
    • Light gore, Blood & Injuries
  • What I won’t draw:
    • Discriminatory work (whitewashing, cultural appropriation, misgendering, ableism, etc.)
    • Ships/Pairings of real people
    • Explicit NSFW & Heavy gore
    • Furry, Mecha
    • I can also, within my discretion, refuse commission requests that are not listed here. If you have any question, feel free to contact me!
  • The commission process is divided into two main parts: brainstorming (before the payment is made), and the final rendering.
    • The brainstorming process will take as long as needed, due to the flexibility required for each individual request. The average estimate is 2 – 4 weeks for colored lineart & painting, and 4 – 8 weeks for character design. During this period I will be sending you multiple sketches & discussions according to your requests; and major modifications can be made several times.
    • The rendering process will take around 1 – 2 months, depending on the details of the commission. I will give you a closer estimation of the time needed after receiving the payment.
    • A sketch commission will take around 7-10 days in total.
  • Due to my full-time job and other responsibilities, I will not accept commissions with rigid & short deadlines. 
  • The finished commission will be sent to you as high-res JPG or PNG files, both with and without my watermark. Other image file extensions & color modes (RGB or CMYK) can be requested as well.

2. Quotations & Payment:

  • Payment can be made in full via PayPal (in CAD) or direct deposit (in CAD or VND, details provided in invoice), only after a sketch & price are agreed upon.
  • Quotations are provided to you during the process of brainstorming/sketching.
  • An invoice will be sent to you via Paypal, email, or the messaging platform that we use to discuss the details of our commission, depending on your chosen mode of payment. I will not accept any mode of payment not specified in the invoice that I sent to you.

3. Additional fees:

  • I will request additional fees in the following situations:
    • Major changes during the rendering phase of the commission. 
    • Customized requests that require costly assets.
  • Other situations not specified above might also apply. I will inform you as soon as possible if any additional fee is needed, and will only proceed with issuing the invoice after an agreement is reached between two parties.
  • Payment for these will also be processed via PayPal or direct deposit, with an invoice attached.

4. Cancellations, Refunds & Compensations:

  • If the commission is cancelled, you will not have the right to use any materials produced for the commission, up until the point of the cancellation.
  • Before the payment is made:
    • I have the right to decline or cancel any commission request at my discretion.
    • Similarly, you can cancel the commission anytime during this period, without obligations.
  • After the payment is made:
    • If you request a cancellation before the final artwork is delivered, a partial refund will be offered in return, depending on the amount of work being done until that point.
    • However, if the artwork is not delivered by the time of the agreed-upon delivery date, you can request either to proceed with a partial refund, a discount for a future commission, or to cancel the commission with full refund.
    • I can also cancel (with full refund) a commission before the final delivery, either due to personal reasons or unforeseen conflicts of interest, etc. Further compensation can be offered in the form of monetary payment, depending on how long the time has passed between the period of payment and the time of cancellation.

5. Copyright & Usage:

  • I will retain the rights to the produced images, including all sketches and final products. In the case of character design commissions, this includes the commissioned designs as well.
    • Unless given written request not to do so, I retain the right to display the commissioned artwork in my retrospectives, portfolios, and donation/subscription platforms such as Ko-fi or Patreon for potential profit.
    • However, unless given written permission before or after finishing the commission, I will not use the commissioned artwork/designs for any commercial purposes not specified in the previous term (example: reselling the artwork to another client, selling them on 3rd party platforms such as INPRNT, RedBubble, etc.)
    • You can use the commissioned artworks/designs for any personal & non-commercial purposes. You can alter/edit them as you please (example: resize/distort/cropping/tracing/adding or removing details, etc.) as long as it is used for personal & non-commercial purposes.
    • However, you may not use the commissioned artworks/designs for any and all purposes related to NFTs and AI art generator.
    • For reposting/redistribution the commissioned images, I will ask that you use the files with my watermark and/or include written credits. 
    • Public posts or distributions of heavily altered/edited images require credit to me along with clear, easy access to the original piece created by me at the time of its delivery.
  • For character design commissions:
    • Credit to me upon derivative usages of the commissioned designs (examples: illustrations, cosplays, doll-making, etc.) for personal & non-commercial purposes are appreciated but not required.
    • Other artists might use the commissioned character designs as references during their commission services – for personal & non-commercial uses – either to you or to others with your explicit permission. Credit to me (as the author of the designs) upon distribution of said commissions is appreciated, but not required.
