Coco Jam 2020 – Mooncake Rush

“Join Jack Jade the Jade Rabbit on his quest to the moon! Arrive to the Cold Palace before midnight to do your share of the work before Mid Autumn runs out, and enjoy the mooncakes and starry eggs along the way!”

This is a racing game exploring the concept of “No pain, no gain”, where the player balances between HP and speed in order to reach the destination before the time limit runs out. The theme is inspired by the Autumn Festival’s folk legend, where the Goddess of the Moon has rabbit familiars who help her prepare ingredients for rice cakes/medicines. For the main stage, we strived to evoke the visual appeal of a watercolor painting, as if the player is walking in a colorful & breathtaking story book.

This game is an entry for Coco Jam 2020, in collaboration with Tiffany Chenn (game designer, game artist & UI artist, sound designer), Leandro Rodrigues (game designer, programmer), Letícia Pasdiora (game designer, programmer) and Antoine Chérier (game designer, programmer, level designer). I was responsible for a part of game design, part of level design and the majority of game assets, including logo, background, character sprites, objects and storyboards.
